Our Mission

We are here to serve Veterans, ex-service persons and their dependents, as well as supporting community activities. We promote today's youth with sports activities and educational projects such as the annual "Poem, Posters & Essays" competition.

The purposes & objects of the Royal Canadian Legion are the care of our Veterans, the perpetuation of Remembrance and the development of the community in which we live.

History of Mount Dennis Branch #31
Toronto, Ontario

We first began in 1918 as a branch of the British Empire Services League. Our members at that time were all war veterans.

The Royal Canadian Legion Mount Dennis (Toronto, Ontario) Branch 31 was incorporated September 1926

The branch has had several homes in the Mount Dennis area over the last 84 plus years.

We have been in our current location at 1050 Weston Road, in Toronto since December 1952. The mortgage was burned in 1957.

Our branch had a long-standing Colour Guard, who won many competitions both here in Canada & in the U.S.A. until the mid 1990's when it was disbanded.

In honour of our Colour Guard, our branch pin is a white pith helmet with a blue band & Legion badge.

Membership is open to all Canadian citizens. Commonwealth subjects or citizens of Wartime Allied Countries who are age 19 years and older.

Military service is no longer a required qualification for membership.

There are currently four categories of membership in the Legion.

Associate Members (persons who can trace a direct blood line to a family member with military or war-time service and fire fighters);

Affiliate Voting Members (persons who have no direct link with the Military but who believe in the purposes & objects of the Legion).

For Non-Canadian Citizens:

Affiliate Non-Voting Members (persons who are citizens of an allied country who believe in the purposes & objects of the Legion).

We also have a long standing Ladies Auxiliary with Catering staff.
